User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:138.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/138.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Set Thunderbird to Dark theme
- Enable "dark message mode" under Message reader style in Settings
- Reply to a HTML formatted message
Actual results:
With "dark message mode" enabled, reader correctly shows received messages on a dark background with light text. However, when replying to the message, the compose window shows the quoted message with original formatting (e.g., dark text on light background). For some messages, the font colour is also set to dark on a dark background which makes it impossible to see. See attached image.
Expected results:
Compose windows should apply the same reader style to any quoted message. Input font style should not get overridden by the style/contents of the quoted message.
Sample message that triggers the font colour bug. Replying to this selects a dark font rather than the light default for Dark theme.
I noticed that TB 128 (128.10.1) does not have these bugs and behaves as expected (quoted message is dark and the font colour for reply is light).
Please ignore the last comment (comment 2) -- I had "Override the colours specified by the content ..." enabled under "Fonts and Colours" in the General section (Colours button) on TB 128.

Confirmed on daily with the test case.
Tested in beta 139.0b4
If 'dark mode' selected in the Message Header area
Then it's not applied in a 'Reply' as per reporter states.
